Provincial Minister for Livestock and Dairy Development Balochistan Sardarzada Faisal Khan Jamali, Parliamentary Secretary for Law, Tourism and Culture Nawabzada Mir Zarain Khan Magsi, Secretary Livestock and Dairy Development Department Mr. Muhammad Tayyab Lehri, and Director General Animal Health and Extension Services Dr. Muhammad Farooq Tareen visited the Lasbela University of Agriculture, Water and Marine Sciences (LUAWMS) and met with Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Abdul Malik Tareen.
Pro Vice Chancellor Dr. Illahi Bakhsh Marghzani and Registrar Dr. Balach Rasheed were also present on the occasion. A delegation led by the Provincial Minister held a meeting with the deans, heads of departments, and administrative officers. The Vice Chancellor briefed the participants about LUAWMS’s academic programs, extracurricular activities, facilities, scholarships, and institutional collaborations.
Provincial Minister Sardarzada Faisal Khan Jamali emphasized that the Livestock Department plays a vital role in the province’s economy and appreciated LUAWMS’s contributions to education and research. He encouraged university faculty to focus on research in organic and sustainable livestock products, highlighting the growing market demand in these sectors.
Parliamentary Secretary Mir Zarain Khan Magsi noted that Lasbela’s fertile landscape and geographical importance make it ideal for collaborative research. Secretary Mr. Muhammad Tayyab Lehri reaffirmed departmental support for academic and field research, emphasizing the importance of the functional Tiaro Farm in Uthal for students and scholars.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between LUAWMS and the Livestock Department to promote cooperation in animal and veterinary sciences. The agreement outlines collaboration on national and international conferences, training programs, and research initiatives, with quarterly meetings to discuss shared goals and challenges.
The MoU also supports the development of welfare societies, livestock farms, and skill-based technical establishments including the Red Sindhi Cattle Farm Sakran Hub and the Tiaro Bela Dairy Development Farm. Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Abdul Malik Tareen expressed gratitude to the visiting delegation for their valuable collaboration and commitment to advancing livestock education and research in Balochistan.
