INTRODUCTION

The Department of Veterinary Microbiology is one of the academic departments of the Faculty of Veterinary & Animal Sciences, Lasbela University of Agriculture, Water and Marine Sciences (LUAWMS). The department was established through Notification No. 0135/Notif/REG-ACAD/LUAWMS/1190-200, dated November 13, 2020, following the approval of the Syndicate, LUAWMS.
The Department is currently chaired by Dr. Muhammad Altaf Hussain (Associate Professor). It is committed to excellence in teaching, research, and diagnostic services in the field of veterinary microbiology. The Department has well-equipped laboratories that support undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, practical training, and research activities in microbiology, immunology, virology, mycology, and related disciplines.

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES

  1. Study the prevalent infectious diseases and their causal agents among the livestock species.
  2. Produce skilled professionals and researcher in the field of Microbiology and it’s branches as virology, bacteriology and applied immunology
  3. Serve the society by promoting science and value addition
  4. Facilitate the regional and inter-provincial farmer in diagnosis facilities related to infectious diseases among the livestock species
  5. Enhance opportunities to conduct seminars about deadly diseases in animals and their zoonotic aspects to create awareness at community level
