An awareness session was organized at Lasbela University of Agriculture, Water and Marine Sciences (LUAWMS) regarding the FATA–Balochistan Scholarship. Mr. Bahram Jan, Project Director, Higher Education Commission (HEC) Islamabad, along with Mr. Muhammad Afzal, Research Associate, and Noorullah Khan, Private Secretary of HEC Regional Center Quetta, participated in the session.
The session aimed to provide detailed information and awareness about the scholarship program to students from various departments of the university. Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Abdul Malik Tareen, Pro Vice Chancellor Dr. Illahi Bakhsh Marghzani, Director of Financial Aid Dr. Mohibullah Kakar, Deputy Director Haji Fayyaz Hussain, Deputy Registrar Academics Faqir Muhammad Baloch, and others were present.
Addressing the participants, Prof. Dr. Abdul Malik Tareen termed it a golden opportunity for students of Balochistan to avail scholarships purely based on merit. He urged students to dedicate themselves to academic excellence to secure good CGPAs and become eligible for this valuable scholarship.
Mr. Muhammad Afzal explained that following the successful completion of Phase II, 5000 scholarships will now be offered to talented students from Balochistan and FATA who have passed the intermediate examination with at least 60% marks. He said that 90% of scholarships are reserved for students studying within Balochistan, while 10% are for those enrolled in institutions in other provinces.
The scholarships will be awarded proportionally across districts based on population. The Higher Education Commission will bear all educational expenses for selected students. Project Director Mr. Bahram Jan also addressed student queries and elaborated on the various aspects of the program.
