A high-level delegation from the Lasbela University of Agriculture, Water and Marine Sciences (LUAWMS), Pakistan, visited Shandong University (SDU), Weihai, China, to explore new avenues for long-term research collaboration in the fields of Marine and Environmental Sciences.
Discussions centered on strengthening cooperation in scientific research, academic exchange, and capacity-building initiatives. The LUAWMS delegation was led by Prof. Dr. Abdul Malik, Vice Chancellor LUAWMS, while the SDU team was headed by Prof. Dr. Xia Lidong, Vice President of SDU Weihai Campus. Other members of the LUAWMS delegation included Prof. Dr. Illahi Bukhsh, Mr. Mujeeb-ur-Rehman, and Prof. Dr. Muhammad Shafi. Representing SDU were Prof. Dr. Jiang Zhaoyang (Associate Dean, Marine College) and Mr. Liu Liang (Director, International Office).
This engagement was made possible through the dedicated efforts of Dr. Muhsan Ali Kalhoro and Prof. Dr. Muhammad Shafi, whose longstanding commitment played a pivotal role in facilitating collaboration between the two institutions.
The partnership aims to promote joint research projects, academic exchange programs, and scholarship opportunities for Pakistani students, with a particular focus on advancing knowledge and innovation in marine and environmental sciences. It is expected to significantly enhance LUAWMS’s research capacity and contribute to addressing pressing environmental and marine challenges in the region.
Both universities reaffirmed their commitment to scientific innovation and international academic cooperation. The visit concluded with a mutual agreement to formalize the collaboration through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in the near future, strengthening the broader framework of China–Pakistan cooperation in higher education and research.
