LUAMS Inter College
INTERMEDIATE IN PRE-ENGINEERING & PRE-MEDICAL
With the physical occupation of LUAWMS premises at Uthal in June 2005, the University Authorities realized that the town was lacking any education facility of higher secondary level. The schools available for primary and high level of education also needed serious efforts for improvement.
It was realized at the start that participation of local students in University education was only possible if an Inter College was made available on priority. An Inter College was also essential for the education of children of University employees.
In this background, LUAWMS Inter College has been established as a private project of Lasbela University purely with the intention of welfare of local community and promotion of education in remote areas.
Not only that no profit making is at all intended, rather the University will have to subsidize the recurring expenses whereas resources for necessary infrastructural development need to be identified. considering the requirements vis-à-vis the paucity of resources a phased development program has been envisaged for LUAWMS Inter College.
During first phase classes in pre-medical, pre-engineering and ICS have been started while using the University building, 85 students including boys and girls have been granted admissions. During the second phase commerce, General science and humanities groups will be introduced with effect from September 2007. The third phase provides for construction of separate purpose built building for the college and introduction of separate classes for girls. We expect the college will have 200-300 students by the year 2010.
